Best App for Movie Lovers
In Theaters Now: The Movies screen shows all the films playing nearby, with the most recent releases topping the list. Each movie shows its ratings score from review site Rotten Tomatoes for a quick idea of how it's going down with critics. Check the coming attractions by tapping the Upcoming icon in the dock. The search option lets you find a specific film, but only if it's playing in your area.
Featured Attraction: Every movie's detail screen has a brief summary, and most offer a trailer, too; the video is high-quality and quick to load. Tap the thumbnail image to see a full-screen version of the poster and, if you like, to save it in your photo library. Scroll down for theaters and showtimes, or tap "E-mail listings" to send the full rundown to friends. Tap the rating and running time to show the director and cast leads.
What The Critics Say: Is the movie a stinker or an Oscar contender? Now Playing scours newspapers and magazines to furnish a large collection of published reviews for every movie. The list starts with the most positive reviews before shifting to crankier reactions as you move down the screen. Tap a review to read the full text in the app's built-in web browser.
On Screen and Online: If this jumbo fountain drink of info still somehow leaves you thirsty, head to the Web to slurp down even more. Every movie offers a Websites button which reveals links to the movie's page at five popular sites.
Moviehouse Match-ups: The Theaters screen shows you the closest theaters, sorted by either distance or name. Tap a theater to see the films and showtimes on offer. Settings let you change your location and choose how far the app should search for theaters. Now Playing has listings for cities around the world, so you can find out what's playing in the Paris movie houses before you jet over.

The only thing missing from this full-featured movie app is the popcorn. Now Playing lists every movie on screens in your area, complete with trailers and a huge collection of published movie reviews. Scan films by release date and rating score, or browse by theater. The app lists showtimes and, in many cases, lets you buy tickets. Staying home? Browse new DVD releases, or use the app to manage your Netflix queue.
